It's about time they started a blog, I know, right? Well, we did and we figured the best way to kick things off was to share a recipe for some tasty treats you can make at home for your dog from our cookbook, The Organic Dog Biscuit Cookbook (page 36-37 if you own it). So here goes, we hope you enjoy baking for your dog as much as we do! And remember, if they don't turn out perfect, your dog is certainly still going to love them, so what's to lose.

Apples are a great kick off to the fall season and a wonderful snack for your dog (we used to share our apples with Bob, he nibbled them right off the core). This recipe brings out the great flavor of apples with some cheddar and honey—a recipe no dog can resist.
1 1/2 c. organic oat flour
1 1/2 c. organic brown rice flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 c. applesauce (unsweetened)
1/2 c. cheddar cheese (shredded)
1 Tbsp. honey
1 egg
1/2 c. water
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Combine all ingredients (except the water) together. Add water slowly and mix until a dough forms (if too dry, add more water, too wet, add a bit more flour). You may not need all the water if you reach a good consistency first. Roll out on a lightly floured surface to 1/4" thickness. Use a cookie cutter (a knife or pizza cutter work great too) to cut into shapes. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper (for easy cleanup), and place the cookies on the sheet (they can be rather close together as they don't grow while cooking).
Bake 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. Transfer and let cool completely on a wire rack. Store the cookies in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
